About

CPD ACCREDITED for HPCSA-REGISTERED PROFESSIONALS || 6 GENERAL CEUs This online CPD workshop introduces healthcare practitioners to the foundational principles of trauma-informed practice, grounded in current research and clinical insight. Designed for multidisciplinary professionals, the course focuses on understanding the impact of trauma on human functioning and supporting more informed, ethical, and compassionate care. Structured around the three core pillars of trauma-informed practice—Safety, Relationship, and Compassion—the workshop explores how trauma shapes the nervous system, influences development and attachment, and manifests across multiple domains of functioning. Participants are guided to understand behaviour as adaptive responses to overwhelming experiences, rather than pathology, and to adopt a compassionate, person-centred lens in their professional work. The course emphasises the practical application of trauma-informed principles across healthcare settings, including psychological safety, enhancing relational attunement, and reducing the risk of retraumatisation. It also highlights the importance of practitioner self-awareness and strategies to manage vicarious trauma, supporting sustainable and ethically grounded care. This introductory workshop equips participants with the knowledge and perspective needed to integrate trauma-informed principles into everyday practice, ultimately supporting safer, more effective, and more ethical care.
